Closed cicuit televison, CCT, has been used for many years in almost every country. The primary use for CCT system are surveillance, traffic control, theft, shoplifting, employee theft, robbery deterrence, and identification. CCT decreases the amount of shoptheft as people will think twice of shoplifting as the camera is able to capture their every move and chances of them being caught red handed is high. CCT also helps the police in many different ways like identifying a thift or terrorist. CCT are used mostly in banks,airports and casinos where monioring is important to prevent terrorism or any accidents that are likely to happen.

CCT might not be useful if the thief wears a mask the totally covers their faces, as the police are not able to identify him or her.

It's true that CCT is very useful, but some shoplifters are desperate with no home to stay and would just commit a crime to get into jail for free-lodging. CCT are needed in important places, but like in some crime movies, professional terrorists know how to disarm CCT and alarm system. Wouldn't having plain-clothes police guarding the place be better?

I totally agree with Shu Han that CCT is very important to ensure the safety of everyone anywhere at anytime. Thought Glen may have said that a thief wears a mask, the police are still able to get at least a rough description of the thief and will be able to nab him by keeping a look out for people who fits the description of this thief.
