Do you think Singapore should step up on CCT surveillance in light of the economic downturn and the increase inthe number of crimes?

Being environmental friendly, i am on the view that Singapore should not step up on CCT surveillance because switching on CCTVs could waste a lot of our energy. Saving electricity is just like saving water, is a small step we could take to stop global warming. Thus, saving electricity to save our Earth plays an even bigger role in our fight against climate change than our fight against crimes. Moreover, the cost for installing CCTVs around Singapore is very high. If the cameras are turned on 24hours a day, 7 days a week, the government's electrical bills would definitely skyrocket. if the government electrical bills increases, it would mean that we would have to pay more taxes to cover the expenses for installing the cameras. CCTVs should be installed in posh buildings or somewhere which have something important to the government. Singapore should not install CCTVs all around Singapore as small little wimpy thieves are not worth our money at all. Moreover, the thieves would be crafty enough to wear a mask when committing a crime. The cameras would be useless and would only be a nuisance to us and waste a lot of money. If CCTVs are installed, people feel that they are being intruded of their own privacy. Imagine if there are people stalking you everywhere you go, would you be comfortable? For me, my answer is 'NO'! That's why Singapore should not step up on CCT surveillance.
