Advantages of CCTV survelliance by:Keefe Neo 2i(20)

Firstly, CCTV surveillance systems consists of hardware and software components that collect and transmit the surveillance camera information via wireless technologies, fiber optic cable or over any IP-based network. Both power and data can be carried on the same cable by using PoE(power over Ethernet). Some cameras in a digital system may also have their own IP address for full access to the Internet. These surveillance images are then transferred to a PC or laptop in a centralized control room to be viewed by an observer using a compact,flat-screen monitor that offers multi-screen displays. An IP-based digital system is unlike he traditional closed CCTV system ,whose images must be monitored using multiple monitors, sites and personnel.
The uses for CCTV systems are surveillance, traffic control, theft, shoplifting, employee theft, and/or robbery deterrence, and identification.Surveillance cameras are basically used to step up security as u can infer from the previous sentence and can prevent the chances of people committing crimes without being spotted by the police department and these cameras are almost everywhere in London and Paris.Surveillance cameras have proved useful as it has shown the cut down of crimes like robbery and theft. The financial district, considered the prime target for terrorism, have been surrounded by about 505 surveillance cameras and this has also reduced the amount of crime rates.Surveillance and traffic control probably do not require color cameras; black & white may actually provide better resolution. However, theft, shoplifting and/or robbery deterrence and identification may require color cameras, if there is an arrest and prosecution a court will require color to make positive identification, on a black & white recording a red sweatshirt would appear to be grey.
Think of this from another angle, would the cost of these surveillance cameras bother you if it concerns about your safety in the outside world? The government is there trying to make the world a better and safer place for everybody to live and people are there complaining about their privacy?Money can be earned back but do you think that the lives of people and the justice of the police in crimes can be earned back? No.The police would then need to do alot of research of DNA and do alot of thinking and testing till they finally can solve the case and this will end up in using more resources and money. If they had surveillance cameras, they could just identify the suspect and ever so conveniently uphold justice and solve the whole crime.Further more, these surveillance cameras are not really hidden and is clearly identified by people by large labels and this should not make people think that the government is invading your privacy. So,in my opinion,I strongly feel that the government should continue with this and go forward in making this world a happier and safer place for all the people to live.

This is a obvious copy from the internet but i will comment.

Even though the CCTV cameras are not hidden but labelled whats the use of knowing the police is spying on you or if the camera is unlabelled and you don't know who's spying on you. You still get monitored and it makes you feel that you are not safe anywhere except at home. As many reports have shown CCTV shows little deterrence in crime rates and if the crime has been commited and even though its on tape it would be useless as the harm has been done. In the current economical crisis, taxpayers are getting increasingly concerned about where their tax money goes to. If it contributes to invading their privacy, why would they have any reason to support it. Cameras can also be easily disabled or blocked from view. They can also be under repair. A good example is when Mas Selamat escaped from detention from the Whitley Road Detention Centre. There was no footage as the cameras were under maintenance. This did not help in investigations even though he was recaptured earlier this year.
